Russian slap to the EU Eastern Partnership
The European Union broke its teeth away in Ukraine. Its five-year project called Eastern Partnership by which it wanted to gradually colonize and annex six states in East Europe and South Caucasus, suffered a serious defeat. Originally, the Polish - Swedish model of East policy of the EU towards Russia that has been adopted by the whole European Union has scattered just like thoughts about common foreign and security policy and the efforts to create a common "European Army". In Vilnius, the association agreement was not signed only by Ukraine, but neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia did it. Meanwhile Armenia announced that they would enter into the Customs Union with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. It can be expected that Azerbaijan will make the same decision. And the preliminary (initialed) association agreements signed by Georgia and Moldova still remain as a big question whether the extension of a free trade zone and the EU closer economic and political cooperation with Tbilisi and Chisinau will really bring greater investments, economic growth and in particular greater peace, security and stability in these countries.
Georgia does not have any influence on separated South Ossetia or Abkhazia, Chisinau, on the other hand, has no influence on the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic which shares a border with Ukraine. Georgia or Moldova are not the members of NATO. If they wanted the Alliance to accept them as full members, it would have to accept the current status quo and give up requirements for “the territorial integrity of Georgia and Moldova „, which the Alliance requires so much, but on the other hand it does not respect the similar situation in case of Serbia and occupied province of Kosovo and Metohija, where Kosovo Albanians unilaterally declared so- called the Republic of Kosovo. Nowadays, it is clear to everyone that the three separated states closely cooperate with Russia (Ukraine) and they do not wish any integration into NATO or the EU. They would rather be interested in a customs union with Russia. Therefore, if the NATO and Brussels continue to insist on the idea that members in their “original borders” -Georgia and Moldova- will become the members of the Union, it would risk an armed conflict with Russia. On the other hand, Moscow has long been suspected of Romania and Georgia that is only extended wing of the U.S. foreign and security policy towards Russia. Moscow with one hand is pointing to secret U.S. military laboratory in Georgia, which allegedly produces chemical and biological weapons (which is a major obstacle in improving the Georgian- Russian economic relations) and the other hand on maneuvers of Bucharest and its unconcealed efforts after the political, economic and military domination of Moldova and later Transnistria. Either way the definitive signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is to be decided during the year 2014. Even Brussels does not know when exactly. Yet it is questionable whether the Georgian and Moldovan Parliaments will definitely support this agreement. It is still about cooperation with Russia and other solutions as offered by the European Union, which is still in economic crisis.
Circus performance that took place at the end of the year 2013 at Independence Square in Kiev was ridiculous and undignified. A particularly embarrassing for thousands of anti-government protesters , whose ignorance , naivety and a great desire especially after the abolition of visa requirements and free travel in the EU, triad leaders  abused the disunited opposition - Arseniy Jaceňuk , Vitaly Klitschko and Oleh Ťahnybok . Instead of offering the government and the president solutions, they demagogically called the Ambassadors of the U.S. and West countries to impose an economic embargo to Ukraine! It was an incredible patriotic act. Later, their "total opposition" to the government and President Yanukovych consulted with the U.S. and British diplomats. In addition, just because the government in October 2013 suspended the preparations for the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
In January 2013, first there were 19 political conditions on the table that Kiev had to do to sign an Association Agreement. In October, there were only four of them. They were for the Brussels headquarters and for Štefan Füle, a Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy. However, the most significant requirement was to release of Yulia Tymoshenko, a former Prime Minister, discredited and corrupt politician! This condition was connected to the other three - the Law on the treatment of prisoners abroad ( so that  J. Tymoshenko could travel to Germany) , Prosecutor's Office and the adoption of several laws , which should improve the business and investments. Their adoption in the parliament was blocked by the coalition- opposition disputes. Meanwhile, and during the process of negotiations on an association agreement, however, Brussels, did not offer Kiev any financial help or guarantees for economic survival if the country leaves a free trade zone with Russia and other CIS countries. For Brussels, the political requirements were still more important than what would follow after, if Ukraine cut off „from Russia and „hang „in the European Union. The Association Agreement prohibits the associated country its membership in other free trade areas and customs unions. If Ukraine signed an Association Agreement, it would have had to leave the „Russian zone " immediately and face sanctions from Moscow which President Yanukovych calculated to be 15 billion USD. Another 500 billion dollars which, according to him, sought to modernize the industrial sector in the European Union standards.
Brussels ignores other facts - for example, the fate of farmers and businesses whose production is totally dependent on Russia and the CIS receiving the 70 % of Ukrainian export, the impact on employment, President Yanukovych´s requirements for the loan from the EU worth 160 billion Euros and help from the IMF and total debt of Ukraine which it owes to Russia. As Russian President Putin announced in Trieste, Russia 's biggest four banks provided Ukraine a loan worth 20 billion dollars. Would the European Central Bank, German and U.S. banks buy these debts? None of them answered. That is why Prime Minister Azarov suggested Brussels to postpone the signing of the Association Agreement and let first meet the delegations of Ukraine, the EU and Russia at the negotiating table first. It was clear that Ukraine could not afford to travel to the EU, because it cannot survive without strong assistance and support of the EU. Brussels rejected such direct talks.
Instead of a constructive approach of the negotiators (C. Ashton, P. Cox, A. Kwasniewski, Š. Füle , M. Barroso , H. Van Rompuy ) , we saw the opposite scenario. The Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit held at the time when Ukraine commemorated the anniversary of the famine in Kiev, just echoed the anti-Russian moods. They later abused armed and organized extreme right, which attacked the police cordons. After the 2500 attacked demonstrators,
"Ukrainian patriots" ended up in the hospital, 100 police officers and 40 foreign journalists ended up in hospital as well. So far, no one has said, who instructed students to demonstrate peacefully and who in turn radicals in orange helmets forcibly occupied the building of the Kiev City Hall, which is now a seat of " revolutionary staff " . Foreign media rather then pay special attention to tough suppression against demonstrators who were not able to block the radical far right, and unable to criticize the Ukrainian government and the president objectively. Later, the Polish President, Polish and Lithuanian MEPs and the Polish protesters to Lvov and Kiev, where they came to support the pro-European demonstrations, noticed the invasion. When German Foreign Minister Westerwelle, Baroness Ashton, American Russophobia and Republican John McCain join them, U.S. Deputy Foreign Minister Victoria Nuland a few days later, it was obvious that there will be an open interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine and kind of putting pressure in order to support resignation of the legitimate government and legitimate president. The Fate of Ukraine and its violent separation from Russia was not for these politically adventurous, also probably a better option – i.e. a partnership with a strong and neutral Ukraine. Therefore, Eastern Partnership project had to get an elegant Russian slap. Without whatever expected by  Brussels and the United States, Russia has provided Ukraine " fraternal financial assistance " in the form of buying government bonds for 15 billion dollars and the third lower than the price of gas . In addition, due to the inability of Brussels, Ukraine got on the train heading towards the Eurasian Union.
