The EU is moving away from Russia
On June 10, 2015, the European Parliament passed the resolution that Russia is no longer a strategic partner of the European Union. Out of the 751 MEPs, 698 took a vote and 494 MEPs supported the 24 – point- long anti-Russian “prosecution" and a black and white resolution that unnecessarily departs and isolates Russia from the European Union. Certainly, it weakens the EU because without the economic and energy cooperation with Russia, the Union will be even weaker and more vulnerable. Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign policy matador, thus finally made the moment of truth, he had been waiting for since at least October 2014: The EU and Russia continue being geopolitical rivals and not strategic partners.
To be honest, they have always been competitors of that kind. Although from time to time were the mutual relations thawed by pragmatic economic interests of transnational corporations and especially profitable trade with gas, but ultimately, since the collapse of the USSR, Russia has so far received no sincere and friendly hand of friendship from Brussels and western states. It was always the hand of sensibility, with the same concerns and speculations in the context of economic survival. In fact, this game with Russia lasting for twenty five years has had more American than naturally “European „origin. Perhaps, except for a shorter period of Prodi´s Era and Gerhard Schroeder´s boom, when it seemed that the EU (Germany) and Russia can create an effective tandem for strong, economically prosperous Europe and Russia. At the time, the EU dreamed its dream about catching up the US and Japan economically and become a strong player. However, the import of American crisis to Europe and Clinton´s ridiculous “restart "in US-Russian relations that followed Saakashvili's military attempt to forcibly integrate Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia, contributed to a different heading of the partnership between the EU and Russia. The results were not publicized warming, but the deterioration and cooling of relations between Moscow and Washington. Americans expected that Russians will automatically support every “US anti-terrorist campaign“in the world so that they could continue making profit together from record world oil prices. Nevertheless Russians had the opposite opinion on the Arab Spring and US military support to anti-government forces in Syria. They criticized the Americans for their policies, which set the mirror to the European Union as well, which welcomed and supported the Arab Spring.
American wedge in Russian-European relations later shifted Brussels and the EU leaders into positions intercepted consultants who had to copy the views and official foreign policy of the White House and US intelligence services. Currently, the EU's inability to formulate and promote an objective and independent foreign policy also influenced the stagnation of Russian-European relations. In addition to the rational and necessary business of gas, which cannot be substituted by alternative or renewable energy sources, there is only one-sided list of political demands to Russia on the table. However, this biased demands interfere the internal affairs of Russia, since it is very black and white. The objectives of such games against Russia has remained clear - to create the impression that we want to be partners but, in fact, we do not want to be. We are interested only in Russian gas. And since we are afraid of Russia, let's rather create a list of policy demands that Russia must fulfill than abolish visa requirements for Russian citizens, about which was discussed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and José M. Barroso, the former President of the European Commission and other 15 members of the committee in Moscow in March 2013. At that time, Russians believed that Brussels would announce the schedule of easing the visa policy, respectively, expected abolishment of the visa obligation before the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014 would confirm the strategic partnership between the EU and Russia. Barroso once again had a mandate to remove this major obstacle, because the goal was rather different - again require from Moscow the progress in protecting human rights and the fight against money laundering and corruption, with which the European Union might have far greater problems than Russia. In other words, it was not the intention of negotiating the agreement, but continue in a hypocritical game - not to negotiate with Russia on the basis “equals ", but under the pressure of new accusations, excuses and conditions that actually block the development of further cooperation. The nature of the policy of Brussels towards Russia, which wants to preserve the relationship between the “infallible superior teacher” and “obedient subordinated pupil " who must only do homework, has already been experienced by the Central European and Baltic States, when integrating into the European Union and NATO.
Such an “equal relationship” is now being experienced by smashed Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia through the association agreements. The main problem is that the EU today does not represent the interests and vision of its citizens and national governments, but mainly represents the interests of banks, multinational companies and supranational European institutions that the governments and citizens of the Member States subordinate voluntarily. As the EU is not a federal state like Russia, but only the integration grouping of states (club) with the international legal personality, might practically camouflage and conceal anything. Even so- called the Common Foreign and Security Policy, also a kind of parliamentary democracy via its European Parliament. Therefore, no wonder if the adult citizens of the EU do not understand, for example, even this simple example: if Russia is not and cannot be the EU's strategic partner, why can the German, French and Italian gas companies be a strategic partner of Russia's Gazprom? Or why the EU has imposed anti-Russian sanctions including the purchase and distribution of natural gas from Russia to the EU?
Unfairness of the EU leaders and some Member States towards Russia is also reflected in the fact that so-called unity and jointed action of the EU towards Russia are hiding the interests of US foreign policy. Despite disagreement of all the twenty-eight with the aggressive US policy in South and West Asia, and in African countries, they will never say anything officially, they will never frankly criticize the White House and to require the State to follow the international law and the UN Charter. Or no one will never ask President Obama so that the USA demonstrated their solidarity with its European allies, and also welcomed the refugees from African countries. In this case, not only the European Parliament remains hypocritically silent also Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain and other countries. It has been a long time since Brussels and the EU Member States lost political courage for justice and a sense of truth, real freedom of speech.
According to the resolution of the European Parliament, since 2008 Russia has occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia, it illegally annexed Crimea, leads the armed conflict and hybrid war against Ukraine, which has intentionally been destabilized by Russia; Russia does not respect borders, violates the international commitments, is responsible for the deteriorating the humanitarian situation in Crimea and in the east Ukraine ... and thus can no longer be a strategic partner of the EU. And that is not all. Also, because Russia (supposedly) does not respect the rule of law, does not respect basic rights, political rights, civil liberties and freedom of the media, as (Now careful!) “the recent adoption of the law on the prosecution of the so-called homosexual propaganda that led to the rise in homophobic violence against LGBTI and to the demonstrations of hatred ... ". On the other hand, instead of the comments there are simple questions arising which might be more appropriate to be thought of: Do the citizens of Crimea return under the Ukrainian jurisdiction? And if not, why they do not want it? Is it known that Abkhazia and South Ossetia wanted after 25 years to integrate into Georgia? Who besides Russia has been sending extensive humanitarian aid to eastern Ukraine for more than a year and who has ordered economic blockade of eastern Ukraine? How many aircraft and humanitarian convoys have been sent to the Donbas by the European Union? How does the EU protect its citizens and society from abuse and violent forcing of gender homosexual propaganda, which is a growing source of tension and resistance?
It is also clearly apparent from the resolution of the European Parliament that the anti-Russian sanctions will remain in force until “the peninsula will be returned to Ukraine.”  Practically, this means that 66% of MEPs decided arbitrarily on behalf of all citizens of the European Union and the EU member governments that sanctions towards Russia will be “forever", because Crimea may be (later the EU and NATO) returned  (If Ukraine does not continue falling apart) to Ukraine only after “military defeat" of Russia. Such an irresponsible and dishonored policy performed by highly-paid MEPs is unprecedented in modern European history. At least, it is sad and outrageous that even Slovak MEPs voted for such a resolution. This resolution reminds of a circus led by insane people and fools who speak only because they have to speak, and yet they do not understand what they are saying. Citizens of EU Member States should certainly give the clear answer to such policy and abuse of democracy. They should say whether they wish or not wish to cooperate with Russia. Indeed, so far, no one from Brussels or from the national governments has explained to them why they are supposed to be afraid of Russia, in what way they are endangered by Russia? Or why did the EU support and tolerate the coup in Ukraine, worsening living standards, economic plundering and especially undemocratic regime of international Ukrainian government? It is, therefore, very important that the European Union also critically reviewed its policy in Ukraine, its deliberate violation of democratic principles, fundamental values and international law and tolerance of violence and destabilization of Ukraine. It should also fully take responsibility for more than 6,000 victims of the civil war and emigration of more than one million citizens as it gave the green light to the unconstitutional coup.
Since the process of finalizing an agreement on Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the EU and the USA is approaching to the end, everything suggests that the real objective of European multinational institutions is not the strategic partnership between the EU and Russia but between the EU and the USA. Unfortunately, such a partnership could finally bury the vision of strong and independent Europe and may start up the process of internal disintegration of the European Union.
